Resistance to Sand
Beyond the static sun protection performance provided by sun protection products against UV radiation, photoprotection is put to the test by consumers in real-life conditions of use such as resistance to water, sweat, etc.
However, no standardized or harmonized in vivo or in vitro method is available today for assessing the resistance of photoprotection directly linked to sand. Indeed, the presence of sand can damage the film of sun protection product, but it can also lead consumers to rub themselves to remove residual sand.
In order to determine and substantiate this product efficacy claim, WENEOS has developed an exclusive in vitro method which requires the measurement of a sun protection factor (SPF) before and/or after sand exposure, which is crucial to ensure consumer protection.
