Solar simulator LS1000

The LS1000 solar simulator produces solar UV radiation in the 290 to 400 nm range, with UVA-only and UVB-only options.

With 98% uniformity available in the usable central area of the square beam of 6″ (15.25 cm) or 4″ (10 cm) Depending on the model selected, these precision search instruments are specifically designed to comply with the latest laboratory standards such as ASTM, IEC and ISO.

These units can reliably produce UV levels many times stronger than the tropical sun without the associated heat load, making them ideal for measuring the damaging effects of UV in materials testing, including sunscreen products.

Directions for use

In vitro part

The LS1000 solar simulator is easy to use. Once the connections have been made, simply :

  • check that the obstructor is closed (off), that the UV filters are appropriate for the solar standard to be applied and that the distance is adequate for the sample size,
  • switch on the power supply,
  • light the lamp,
  • Allow to warm up for several minutes, place a detector (according to the solar standard to be applied) and open the obstruction to measure the intensity,
  • close the occluder, place the samples and open the occluder as long as necessary,
  • close the obstructor to recover the samples.
  • switch off the lamp and allow it to cool for several minutes before switching off the power supply.


NB: Annual calibration is necessary to ensure the quality and stability of UV radiation.

SOLAR LIGHT COMPANY warrants that the equipment has been carefully tested, inspected and has left the factory in good working order, free from visible defects. SOLAR LIGHT COMPANY warrants the equipment to be free from defects in material and workmanship, under normal use and operating conditions, for a period of one (1) year from the date of initial commissioning or demonstration; or eighteen (18) months from the date of shipment from the factory; whichever occurs first. The warranty is limited to free replacement of all defective parts and free labor during the first warranty year. Defective parts replaced under this warranty will become the property of SOLAR LIGHT COMPANY. The above warranty is subject to the following conditions: The equipment is installed in the United States of America, Canada, or sold by authorized SOLAR LIGHT COMPANY representatives or their agents outside the continental United States. The equipment being installed is operated and maintained in accordance with SOLAR LIGHT COMPANY’s operating instructions, maintenance instructions and specifications. Use only authorized SOLAR LIGHT COMPANY parts and components. The use of a duly authorized representative for all work carried out on SOLAR LIGHT COMPANY equipment during the warranty period. Any variation of the above warranty must be in writing and mutually acceptable to SOLAR LIGHT COMPANY and the customer. The warranty does not apply to damage resulting from installation errors, or to any equipment that has been damaged, modified or misused by the purchaser. Equipment parts that would generally be considered consumable service items under normal use, such as fuses, lamps, detector shields, etc., are not covered by the warranty.
